How To Build Muscle

Muscle Gain Truth

So you think you know how to build muscle but do you really know? I’m going to let you in on 3 little secrets that go against everything you have learnt about building muscle. They don’t involve supplements, protein shakes or any other artificial crap that will only hold you back. Getting these 3 tips right will be the difference between success and failure with your muscle building program.

Obviously lifting weights is the first place to start when you want to build muscle and this is where the confusion and problems starts. If you have been sucked in by the fitness magazines they will have brain washed you into frightening training program of 6 or 7 days a week! I can see how it makes sense, the more you practice the better the results, that’s what my football coach always said. And while that’s true for most things in life it is the worst thing you can do when you want to build muscle.

Discover the Shockingly Simple Truth About Building Muscle

How to build muscle tip #1 Nutrient timing

Basically nutrient timing is based on providing your muscles with protein and carbs before and after weight training. Your natural anabolic response improves by decreasing protein breakdown while increasing your uptake of amino acids. This has a huge impact on testosterone levels but not in a way you would expect.

Nutrient timing will always promote an increase in natural testosterone circulation which is then followed by a significant decrease. The reason there is a decline in testosterone is because your muscles are sucking it all up and we all know testosterone builds muscle. So nutrient timing before and after workouts significantly increases testosterone delivery directly to your muscle and is a critical and often unused link for greater muscular gains.

How to build muscle tip #2 get stronger

The number 1 limiting factor in your ability to gain muscle comes down to your strength. For muscles to grow you must continually place them in a state of “overload” so in turn your strength determines how much overload you can effectively produce.

  • Improve your strength
  • Increase in overload
  • New stimulus for muscle growth

You must incorporate strength training exercises (internal link) into your training program in order to optimize your muscle building response. Focus on improving your strength and watch your muscles grow.

How to build muscle tip #3 rest

This is the most overlooked and skipped tip or trick to building muscle. First you need to understand the science behind it but don’t worry I will keep it simple and to the point. Every time you lift weights and stress your muscles to failure you create a “micro-injury” to that muscle. In the 24-48 hours following that micro-injury your muscles repair the damage and make things a little stronger in the hope of not having it happen again. But they need time for this to happen and be effective.

You can dramatically increase your muscle mass by simply focusing on this basic scientific law of muscle-growth.

Now, it’s time to put all 3 steps together. We all know that you must improve your strength; increased strength allows you to overload your muscles. This overload will cause a “micro-injury” that needs to be repaired over time with rest. You dramatically repair the “injured” muscle fibres by giving them the right nutrients at the right time. This allows your muscles to rapidly absorb the extra testosterone screaming through your body. And that is how to build muscle.
